also forgot to say that recoiless rifile, that you showed on crows nest was their way before 1968,like i stated in my last submission we were soliders from 3rd bn 1st marines mike co.many days we climbed crows nest to talk to the marines that were stationed up their, you said they needed ropes to climb up their?we climbed up their with no ropes it was a steep climb, but we didnt need ropes, the only danger that was climbing that mountain were the booby traps the vc would put out their, like short fused granades''''''''''you would trip them as you walked through the brush up their, you had to be very careful.

nice pictures,i was stationed with 3rd bn 1st marines on marbel mountains in october 1966,we were there for a few months just outside the village of nui kim son, then we moved 8 miles down the msr road .crows nest was the other mountain,we had a 106 recoiless rifile on the top of crows nest, also there was hill 10 just across from crows nest, that i spent 4 months on,the china sea was to our backs and a airforce compound was next to us also.it was good to see these pictures again, many days i walked through the tempel and never realized there were vc in the tempel of marbel mountains, you realize that i was one of the first to set up camp near marbel mountain this was early october of 66 and the war was just really getting started.

I was never "in country," but lost friends. My brother was in country with 5th SF. He spent time with the montagnards, circ. 1969 or so, and has always held them in high regard. I remain convinced that the government of Vietnam is committed to their assimilation into the broader culture.

Your website is beautiful. I am a film student and musician. I am a child of the Vietnam Era. Our family friends served in Vietnam in country and I have made wonderful friends who are Vietnam veterans. Your mission is awesome and inspiring. I am currently working on a film in honor of Vietnam Veterans. My mission is to bring honor and respect to the Men that served in Vietnam. My hope is to shed light on an amazing group of men who's legacy deserves to be one of honor, love and respect. Being I was born in 1970 I am looking back at growing up, how all i heard was negative stuff about Vietnam Veterans. My experience, personally is that every man I've met that served in Vietnam has been kind, thoughtful and very respectful. I feel i owe it to them to give them the same respect back. I wish I would have been born earlier so I could have said thank you, Welcome Home. It's too late for that. So all I know how to do is tell your stories..The positive side Of who these great men are, "Vietnam Veterans'. I wrote a song in honor of our veterans trying to let you know that you are not forgotten. I will do my best to show society that you are "worth more" than they gave you. You all have a very special place in my heart. Thank you for everything you sacrifice and have given.
Sincerely..Kim Kelley
