TDY from Thailand to attended the USASTRATCOM South east Asia Signal School No. 1 Long Binh and from there I was used for everything to include being place in the Hell Hole of a Slick as a door gunner. Never saw Thailand again. Made some great friends along the way.

I was in 2/18 company B first platoon Base camp Dian From July 68-July69 . We worked out of the water plant and pulled guard on a barge in the river. I was asgn to RVN 62-64 at Qui Nhon as an advisor. I was asgn in Saigon 67-68 as a traveling advisor to VNAF. I went to every location VNAF had troops with American Advisors. I flew on just about anything going the way I needed to go. Retired from the USAF as an E9 on 1 Dec 82 w/22 yrs svc. I wrote a book on my USAF career and it was published in Feb 2010. There is ana excerpt at that location as well. My next book titled "A Salute to the Nurses of Vietnam" is due out late this year. It is dedicated to all the nurses (male and female) that served there or on one of the hospital ships from 1959 to 1975. Looking for someone who can verify that the 1883 Communications Squadron, Phu Cat AFB, Vietnam had a detachment at the undersea cable head at Qui Nhon. This facility was a small compound on a hillside overlooking Qui Nhon, its slums, and Qui Nhon Bay. I'm having a pissing (excuse the language but seems appropriate for this issue) match with the VA and U.S. Joint Service Records Research Center. They claim there is no record of any such detachment so I couldn’t have been stationed there. I swear that is where I was during 1969-70 but guess that whole year plus all these years since I was or have been hallucinating.
During my tour, for most of the time there where 3-4 USAF communications specialists, 2 US Army communications specialists, and two USAF people who mantained the power generators and battery banks.

Was stationed at Kraus compound 69-70.Worked in ELM shop.Trying to locate any one who was there when we had the mortar attack in July 69 and CW2 MAGGART put the flare in the tube and the bunker lit up like day time.
