ZULU COMPANY, MAG 16 Apr 69-Mar 70. Would like to hear from any of the guys that served with ZULU, either Army (282nd or 245th Avn Co's) or Marine Air Wingers. Or the other 0311s that were permanent at ZULU at that time. I was in 2nd Platoon the entire time. Maj Walsh, Cpl Mallow, SSG Graves, David Kurtz, Dan Martin, Mack Gorden, John Kirton, Ramon Rocha, Jim Long & Smitty are a couple of the names I remember. I got there just after the Ammo Dump at Da Nang blew up and was there when the ARVN dump blew up. Several mortar and rocket attacks and a couple race riots. I was with Don Lambert when he was killed. I was in Vet Nam 1969-1970 in the B Co. 54 th Sig. Bn at Camp McDermott, Nha Trang. I spent 25 years in the army. The Last 12 in Field Artillery, 6/14 FA, 6/37 FA. I have been in Korea, Germay & don't forget NAM. I was in FT Hood TX, Ft Huachuca AZ. I work at FT, Carson Co. now. I would like to here from some of you guys. And yes I miss being in the army.

I was in the us army assigned to the macv logistics. From April 1967-April 1968. First in saigan and then we moved to headquarters building at Tan Son Nute. I was in the headquarters building on the morning of the TET offence. I was issued a M1 carbine (WW2 vintenge) and we had to defend ourselves during the attack. The people I remember are SSGT Kelly (USAF) Yeoman Holmes (USN) Maj Spearman and Spc Larry Boles.

This is the best site I have ever used, I am a dis. ab. vet. I serverd in Da Nang from 1/31/68 to 2/21/69. from that date we went through 47 mortor and (122) rockets attacts during that yr now the VA wont me too recall the names of people that was KIA during that time. I remerber when the amo dump took a direct hit ther was explosions that went on for a week.So if there is any one out there that has any infomation please e-mail me at sulimanelamin@yahoo.com. I was with the 366 Supply Sq. Gunfighters. What a joke when our M-16s were kept at head qts on the other side of the flight line . When I was there I ran a liq. oxygen plant (LOX) .During that year in July and August we was the only plant in operation we never had a shut down. for mech. problems. There was only 4 plants operating in country,Siagon, Cam Ron Bay, Tan Synut, and Da Nang. There was times we had help load agent orange on C 130's that flew out of Da Nang.

70/71 4th/60 artillery(dusters)spent 15mos,about 10mos at the the bottom of mang yang pass,lz action.we run convoys thur the pass and on to pleiku many times.ankhe pass too! ankhe pass had a fsb on the very top of this mountain,forget the name,you could'nt see anything-we'd just throw gernades and let em roll down,loss a couple good friends in ankhe pass.spent my last 2-3mos pulling securty on a cliff at camron bay,our fire base there was fsb freedom.i was there when vc blew up 1 or so camron's ammo bunkers.fsb freedom was about 3 miles from camrons gate,i was on guard duty that nite and the shock waves were the largest i've ever seen and i'd seen alot in vc valley.that cliff at camron were we on over looking the ocean was a huge rock and on it someone wrote "WHEN THE POWER OF LOVE OVERCOMES THE LOVE OF POWER THEN WE SHALL HAVE PEACE". WELCOME BACK!
